Deceptively large pub, as it looks quite small from the outside but goes back a long way and spreads out. Quite modern inside with stripped wooden floors, etc, a couple of plasma's with sports on and a large bar at the back. Was quite noisy on a recent Friday evening visit, even though it was fairly early. Quite a few large groups of students, although there is a more intimate seating area right at the front of the pub which should be a bit quieter and you can watch the world go by. A few beers on tap, plus Stowford Press Cider. Blackthorn - 16 May 2009 16:38 |
roomy sort of bar, beers bath ales gem , bishops tipple , wadworths 6 x , gem was fine , food specials cheaply priced 4.95 , two big screens , was very quiet when I was in there , imagine it probably gets very busy in the evening . fair beatles38 - 4 Jan 2009 11:30 |
Spent rather more of the 1990's here (and in the Corry Tap) than I care to remember (or can remember come to that) In about 3 basements below Richmond terrace, this was always going to be a studenty hang-out, and I'm sure it still is. Does it still have the 500ml bottles of ice-cold Budvar? That, the garden and big screen footie were the highlights. jonno_ - 8 Nov 2006 21:50 |
Nice enough, crypt-like interior. Good beer garden. Full of students, most of the time, oiling themselves up before hurtling down the hill to 'the Lounge'. Ales here aren't good, but nice wine selection. Still got a bit of a soft spot for the ol' place, despite myself. Gerontay - 13 Dec 2004 15:20 |
Good pub (although has changed a bit in last year or so) but still a good pub with a nice beer garden for summer all day drinking Tom Vincent (Brewster) - 29 Jan 2004 10:39 |
