Staff are unwelcoming and have a bad attitude. The young female bartenders have their own little gang of regular friends that they socialize with at the bar, and normal customers seem to get in the way of that. My advice is stay away, there are better pubs in the area.

The Litten Tree touts itself as a sports pub and in all fairness it's a good place to watch a game. I went there for the recent game with Villa and Chelsea and there was a great atmosphere, as you'd expect with many of the regulars being Villa supporters.

It was nice to see a Wetherspoons manager really on top of things. He directed us to a vacant table when he saw us frantically looking for seats and I saw him helping out behind the bar and carrying food when things got extra busy. Top marks to the gentleman.

I've been hearing rumors about this place closing again. But I've been hearing that on and off for a couple of years now so I'm not taking it too seriously. Saying that it wouldnt supprise me if it did close soon. The Litten Tree often closes early during the week and isn't very busy weekend nights. I find the problems arise from the decor being very much like a social club in the sence that its dark, dark furniture, dark carpet and low lighting. Now in some places this would work but the Litten Tree has little natural light coming in, which for a town centre pub is whats needed. There are some big bay windows but there covered in point of sale so very little light gets in that way. This in turn gives the place very little atmosphere and makes it quiet depressing. Price isn't much of an issue here now , most things are cheaper or only a few pence more than the wetherspoons across the street. The Litten Tree is known for its sports coverage which should secure its future but when the place is packed with people watching the many well placed screens very few have actully purchased anything, an obvious and very big problem, and one I can't explain. Food is good, inexpensive and reasonably quick to arrive. I really do think the down fall of the Litten Tree is in its decor and atmosphere. We'll have to wait and see what the future holds for The Litten Tree.

I use this pub only to watch football. It's not a surprise that the place is struggling to stay in business as the staff shut the tills down before 10:45 pm to avoid having to serve any more customers! Glad I'm not a shareholder in that business, but Witherspoon's aren't complaining! This place is going the way of Yates' and Ha! Ha! Bar, i.e. down the pan.
