The Ladybird is a very lively pub next to Bromsgrove railway station and a hotel. It's handy for the station, which is actually nowhere near the town centre. The car park requires tokens to exit, which can be obtained from the bar. The main bar area was packed with people watching live football. Another room around the corner had a number of slightly quieter areas, including space for diners. Regular ales are Wye Valley HPA & Butty Bach, Batham's Best Bitter & Sharp's Doom Bar. Guests were Three Tuns XXX & Steam Box Golden Bolt. A bit too lively for my liking. blue_scrumpy - 20 Aug 2019 21:12 |
Beers on the last few visits have been decidedly average. Took one back last night and after a bit of an interrogation it was changed. Apology was offered and no payment required for the dearer beer which was good. LickeyEndBooze - 30 May 2015 15:11 |
It looks a nice, old-fashioned street corner local from the outside. They've got Batham's and while it isn't up to Bull & Bladder standards it's good enough. But - and this is something I can't get my head around no matter how many times I see it - given they've got the basics in place for a classic traditional pub, why do owners then feel they have to lay the place out like a restaurant? Panelled flooring, straight-backed chairs, place settings at every table. If I wanted a meal I'd have gone to the Indian across the street. I actually wanted a pint of decent beer in a proper pub. It isn't much to ask for. djw - 28 Oct 2014 01:02 |
Modern interior though retianing seperate sections. Ale was reasonable but was okay rather than great. anonymous - 21 Sep 2012 17:50 |
It's hard to be critical about a local pub that sells Bathams but The Ladybird does lack the atmosphere it once had and the female bar staff do need to learn how to smile occasionally. Also sells Wye Valley HPA and a good pint of Thatchers Gold but the third guest beer now always seems to be Birds which is very hit and miss. bromsgrovebeerboy - 11 Nov 2010 20:03 |
