| Stayed here for one night. Friendly bunch. Had a couple of very good pints and the Thai food was fine. Not cheap though! Accomodation was very good for a small local pub as was the breakfast. I'd go back there. whelklocator - 21 May 2012 11:57 |
| The menu states "The Cornish Arms Thai Chef Supal Seeling is a highly trained and respected chef with over 30 years experience" but the so-called Thai food is poor and expensive compared to restaurants. Pictures on their website look nothing like actual dishes. Certainly not prepared with ingredients or care you would expect at the price. Owner was unapologetic about food and said it was what they normally provide so evidently not the chef's night off. | The locals seemed to appreciate the Thai Buffet that was on offer when we visited. What no-one tells you until you get there is that a) you have to book the buffet (not a problem, we don't like Thai food), b) you have to reserve a table on theme nights and c) if you don't order any non-theme food before 7:15 pm, you don't get any food at all. The Theme nights are only advertised outside the pub, so you don't know until you get there! Be aware - Thursdays are Thai.... Welcome was friendly, service was quick, but food over expensive. Fish and chips, and two lasagnes came to �34.50. The lasagne, although delicious, was a medium sized-portion served with approximately 20 chips and in no way deserved the �11.50 price tag.
