First time I ever went in here, it was like the wild west! This was 1989: clouds of flies in the toilets, men flying out of the doors, locals trying to lift your drink, the gas heaters on the wall. It had character, that place. Was in a while back to discover it's now bedecked with Celtic flags and seems to be a haunt of weekend, would-be Irish rebels. What a shame that the football idiots ruined this bar with their bigotry. Watch out if your in there with a pretty woman, too: the locals have no scruples about eyeing them up blatantly! You jest, surely? Is this not the establishment immortalised as follows: 'He left his wife oan her tod, Now he lies beneath the sod. He's no' sleeping, he's stony deid. Blame it on the Sarry Heid'? joegreen - 20 May 2012 16:04 |
Best spot on the Gallowgate for a pre-match pint (although that doesn't say a great deal as there are some serious hovels in the vicinity). Recommended. Sebo - 20 May 2012 15:56 |

Ahh the Sarry Heed. What is there to be said about this place that hasn't already been daubed on the walls in warm English blood! I jest. A serious Celtic pub. Exciting to the point of terrifying for this particular plastic jock. My cousin lives just around the corner and has taken me there many a time for a wee touch of pre match atmosphere! Nowhere in the world like it (other than the Bairds maybe) Locals are incredibly welcoming once you get over the initial fright. Excellent! Mr_Local - 8 Dec 2006 11:27 |
