user reviews of the Junction Bar, Edinburgh

Spaceman, whose proposed remedy for the Junction Bar was, for me, somewhat on the restrained side, may be glad to know that it quite soon died a less pyrotechnic but no less well deserved death and was opened a couple of years ago as the Cask & Barrel, Southside. (Same ownership as the Cask in Broughton Street.)
Now one of the finest ale and whisky shops around. I have suggested it to BITE, so watch that space.

Very up-market Edinburgh bar. It has some great cocktails, snakebite being my favorite, a very contemporary food offering, I particularly liked the prawn cocktail crisps, very tasty. There was even a couple of antique chairs to balance on. I loved the jukebox, who doesn't like 2 Unlimited at 100 decibels and the locals were very welcoming. There wasn't one who didn't offer to 'take me outside'. Lovely. Theres only two small things that could improve this charming , quaint slice of Scotland. A bucket of petrol and a match.

The management has indeed changed, many times in the last six years or so.

It was a great pub around the year 2000/2001. Then the manager left and it was still good and then the next guy left and that's when it started to go downhill.

I think there has been another 2 or 3 managers at least since then.

It's a complete hovel now and I just can't go in the place.

i lived above here and frequented it many times. got steadily worse and worse and eventually abandoned it. they used to do good food, especially the home made burgers but i'm not sure they're doing them anymore. quiz night decent though. maybe the management changed....
