user reviews of the Glenelg Inn, Kirkton
please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
When we visited it last autumn (Sept 07) it was over priced, under whelming and on a Sunday at lunchtime offered little variety in the way of food. There was nothing on offer for vegetarians -at all. Tattie crisps was the solution. The locals said prices were as expensive as at the Forge at Inverie on Loch Nevis. It has the excuse that stuff comes in by boat - this one is just a rip off. I read elsewhere that it has changed hands - hopefully to someone with a bit of humour. The locals apparently deserted it which always is a bad sign. The barman we "got" had highly questionable competency and zero social skills. One member of staff, an Ozzie guy I think, had a bit of nonce - he is long gone no doubt. God help Scotlands reputation if this is the standards our foreign visitors are greeted by. Pretentious and patronising. This visit was to see if it was acceptable for a group visit. You can appreciate I will recommend elsewhere. Cigarette smoke from outside wafted into the bar through the open door - an unwelcome olfactory experience to add to the raft of other abysmal ones. gavmel - 25 Jan 2008 10:28 |
