This pub is not in St Peter Port; it is in La Fosse, St Martin's. The Captain's is a real pub, frequented by locals and tourists. Real ales on offer are Fuller's London Pride and one guest ale; I sampled the London Pride, which was in very good condition. The pub has nine nicely furnished en-suite rooms, and offers a good selection of solid and well-prepared food in huge portions and at reasonable price. We stayed there for five nights, and would happily stay again. ashmather - 28 Aug 2011 18:53 |
One of the last unspoiled traditional pubs left in Guernsey. Unbelievably large helpings of good food served very cheaply. Excellent value Calomax - 30 Sep 2010 22:35 |
We reached this pub on the number 6 bus route, just as the Lions 3rd Test against South Africa was drawing to its conclusion. There were a few South Africans in the bar witnessing their country's loss. I found this to be a very nice country pub. The only letdown was the service, which was a little blunt. When asked what we would like, a little hesitation on our part meant that the barwoman started serving a local (who had walked in just after us) his 'usual' pint. Two real ales were on handpulls - Fuller's London Pride and Black Sheep Best Bitter. blue_scrumpy - 6 Jul 2009 16:50 |
