Alva is one of those villages which you can drive through without noticing it. The Cross Keys is certainly one that most people will pass. It seems to have built a reputation for food. But we were here just for a drink. With the kitchen closed on our visit, the barmaid opened the lounge for us, as kids are not allowed in the bar. Locals were playing pool in the bar. There's no real ales in here anymore. In fact, it hasn't been in the Good Beer Guide since 2006! The keg selection was John Smith's, Coors Light, Fosters, Strongbow, Tennent's, Stella Artois & Guinness. blue_scrumpy - 14 Jan 2020 21:18 |
Went to see Grangemouth artist Cal playing on 7/1/2006. superb night out. Staff were very freindly and round of drinks always came to same price.(not like most pubs nowadays.) briankerr - 10 Jan 2006 07:29 |
decent enough, bar is full of neanderthals but hey its a bar, restaraunt is ok, cheap grub well done, but then for a fiver are we to expect michelin star cuisine, staff a bit neddy and youngish , no pool i expect!!! ANDYBHOY - 7 Jun 2005 21:49 |
No atmosphere. Food is poor and bland and very few meals were available that were advertised on the menu. Service is slow. Seats are hard. Don't bother! anonymous - 13 Feb 2005 22:28 |
