Up until today, I would have considered the Sunnyside as a friendly, family orientated pub. The staff have always been particularly friendly and even when the pub was without heating at the beginning of the year, the landlady made a point of coming and personally apologising. Yes, it's had its' ups and downs in recent months - with rumours of the pub being sold to make way for a mosque and other similar stories, but we have stuck with it - as one of our locals'. Unfortunately, the manager at this time has little regard for the pub or its' customers. He has a couldn't-care-less attitude that he has made common knowledge - stating cateogorically that he won't be here for long as there are 3 pubs in Ipswich that he is after? This was only highligthed further today when he chucked me out of the pub for "apparently" being rude to another customer. (The customer in question was as baffled by the new landlords' comments as I was) This gun-ho attitude is not welcome. I have been frequenting the pub long before he arrived, but I can assure you - whilst he is in residence, I shall not be stepping foot in any of the pubs inc. The Trumpet, The Whitehills, The White Elephant. This is further made worse - only for the fact that I recommended the pub to my friends (only 2 weeks ago) to hold their Wedding Reception later this year. not_a_happy_chappy - 21 Jun 2009 18:43 |
the last time i was in here was after my last exam at uni (across the road from the pub). the landlady got really arsey about the students buying one drink at a time. i mean REALLY arsey to the point where she was shouting at them. fair enough it might be annoying but the pub is located across the road from a university (and a college)! what does she expect? quaysfan - 21 Aug 2007 17:36 |
