Single room with long bar. Good choice of ales. Teignworthy Strawberry's and Cream, Henlon's Yellow Hammer, Exmoor's Silver Stallion and .......Doombar (well, everyone else sells it). Real Cider is also available. Popular food dishes and good value. fugglehops - 22 Jul 2017 18:27 |
In the parade between the sea and the high street is this locals cider and ale bar. An outside seating & smoking area to the front leads into a homely bar with seating on both sides before you reach the bar which is on your left hand side. The long bar has 5 hand pumps that had 4 ales and a real cider on. My pint of Exmoor Silver Stallion @ 4.3% was very good and great value as all ales are £2.70 a pint. The other 4 ales were all from Devon. There's a large quantity of local Devon ciders available in bottles and 4 in polyboxes. Tuesday afternoon and the place is fairly busy, food on offer with the pie's looking particularly good. We spent 30 minutes in here and with the rain not relenting several families came in during our time, I believe kids are allowed in until 9pm. Decent bar and a good tick from the 2015 GBG lezford - 21 Sep 2015 17:18 |
Bit like a spoons but not as tidy. Had some decent ales and a real cider on. Exmoor Stag £2.50, a decent kept beer at a decent price. rpf1955 - 19 Mar 2014 17:04 |
A suprisingly decent place in the heart of boozy Paignton. From the outside i was dubious thinking it would be another souless modern bar but inside was cosy with some very nice seating areas. I also didn't expect to seen as many, if any ales in here and at £2.50 a pint quite unbeliveable! This needs to be in the good beer guide. 9/10 montie49 - 17 Dec 2013 18:15 |
This is a cracking pub which manages to have a good local feel whilst at the same time is welcoming to visitors. Always cheery, and attractive, barmaids. Well-kept local ales and very reasonable prices. I haven't eaten here but what I've seen looks like proper pub grub - nothing clever. johnthechef - 13 Dec 2013 22:06 |
