Having recently relocating to the area I tried out the local pubs to find one that suited me.On my initial visit to the Bull [nov2007] I was somewhat underwhelmed, my second visit was in june this year and was pleasantly surprised, the pub had undergone a thorough clean with a change of management and attitude ,I found the barstaff to be very polite and most helpful.I regularly have my lunchtime pint and read the paper [free issue] lunches are a recent addition, basic but reasonably priced.the effort put in by the staff for holloween from the decoration to the entertainment was excellent and I look forward to the christmas decorations and entertainment in the build up to the festive period.I must agree with a comment from another post, that the pub is in need of a refurbishment.Since regularly visiting the pub I have not seen the alleged scallies/ bad atmosphere. I think the beer is of good quality and fairly priced. This new management, in my opinion, has to be commended on their efforts.

I used to enjoy a beer in here before and after a Swinton RLFC match in the 1980's, went in here recently and nearly got into a fight, just because they didn't recognise me as being a regular.

the bulls head is the oldest and nearly the only remaining piece of heritage we have in swinton. there are several pieces of interesting history surround the bulls head for example being used as a watch tower to catch grave robbers, the secret tunnel leading from the pub to the church and then to the school and aparently it carried on to the old looney asylum, rouges where placed into stocks that were over the road so the pub was used for entertainment purposes. the pub gets its name from when it was used for bull baiting. there has been several seances held here and ghostly apparitions developed on photos not suprising considring the history, yet although i am only 26 and do like my weekends out i refuse to go into this pub and watch our heritage being wrecked and given an appaling name due to the little scallies and scrubbers. it might aswell be called the bulls head kindergarten. stay away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Full of absolute scallies and has a bad atmosphere, constantly feels like it's going to kick off any minute. Will pop in for the odd one but only because of the lack of pubs in the area. Overpriced beer considering it's a sh*t hole.
