| Delilict site now sold-what for I dont know, Strangly-a section of the forecourt was not in the hoarding area. Or I believe in the sale of the plot. A former landlord in the 1970s whom I was friendly with-John -Told me the history of the name-and I suspect the "vacant" section. Seems good old Queen Victoria,famous for her consitutonals (walks) took one suck route that terminated in Slough High street-at this point.She wanted to be able to get a posy of flowers to take back to the castle (windsor) and a decree/charter was established alowing a flower stall on the forcourt of the public house-overturning local laws on markets etc in town. A stall was there on sats/bank holidays untill about 10 years ago. After the queens wish was granted-the pub became-The Floral Arms-and next...... ruggy - 13 Apr 2011 17:56 |
