Visited in August 09 when it was hot and sunny. Draught Landlord at the wicket. A week later the same barrel was still being served! Very expensive for both food and drink. It is not surprising that the pub is never very busy. wildwillie - 24 Aug 2009 20:45 |

WOW - What a craking place amazing food and reasonably priced! Run by a young team both staff and managment were so polite and willing to please all the time. We have been living in the area for 6 months now and it is safe to say that none of the other local pubs/hotels are a match on any level for thr Crown!!! Stick with it guys your great!!! Definatly worth the visit!!! 11/10 anonymous - 29 Sep 2007 15:41 |
Just echoing the reviewer comments from August 2006. We popped in for Sunday lunch and the Roast Pork and vegitables was the best that we can remember. They must have a very good chef. The Real Ale is excellent, well kept and well pulled, with a good choice made. The Inn has obviously had a bit of a facelift, which may be work in progress, but it has got real character so I hope it does not change too much. At the front there is a large restaurant and a very friendly pub bar area. There is seating outside. There looks to be a long bar at the back (alongside the old road) with an very old skittles alley. We remember calling bye about 12 years ago en-route from the NEC for a late meal and we stayed the night. It was good then also. anonymous - 30 Jul 2007 21:21 |
Having read this review I was seriously wondering why we had booked to come here!! However when we arrived the freshly painted exterior and lovely flowers made me see why. We arrived to a very warm and friendly welcom from the landlord (and busy bar) who gladly welcomed us. The ale (which they had an award for) was splendid, with a great range of wine and soft drinks. The atmosphere and food were out of this world - really worth a visit! We found the pub to be clean, family friendly, and had a grat evening!! The new guy took over in October 2005 and has spent considerable time and effort in enhancing this pub and is definatly getting there!! We are definatly returning!! 10/10 anonymous - 31 Aug 2006 00:21 |
