This used to be a great wee pub until the manageress ruined it by allowing it to become divided along sectarian lines which is especially evident during old firm games. Guarranteed to be at least one brawl during or after the game. The new(ish) owner has made a fantastic job or refurbishing the place including a very expensive kitchen facility catering for pub meals. It's a pity he hasn't concentrated on cleaning out the idiots and trouble makers in the bar rather than the decor, until he manages that he'll never get in the punters from the new houses that are being built due to the reputation the place has. His best move would be to replace the manageress, restore the harmony between the old firm punters and weed out the idiots. cowieman - 2 Jan 2007 20:54 |
From the outside Cowie tavern looks a friendly village pub. However upon entering the premises the whole atmosphere changes and strangers are not made to feel welcome. It is a very sectarian run premises and violence is common place. My advice would be to give this pub a miss. liffey - 2 Aug 2006 18:14 |
