UNBELIEVABLELY BAD! My girlfriend and I went to Bird in Hand at 81 West Wycombe road, High Wycombe for a meal today. We clearly told them she was Vegetarian. We tried to order Vegetarian Lasagna which they said was sold out. We asked what else is Vegetarian as she does not eat meat. We were recommended the shepherds pie and we asked if it was Vegetarian and what Veggies were inside. Food comes. Girlfriend bites into it. MEAT! Starts crying. Manager comes out. We again explain she does not eat meat as she is VEGETARIAN! I speak with woman who said she is manager. She then offers to make a Jacket potato and I said that's fine as long as it is all Veggies. Food comes. Girlfriend bites into it. TUNA FISH! UNBELIEVABLE! Instead of apologising they want to argue with us saying it is our responsibility and not theirs. HUH?!?! I was like are you serious. We told you about 10 times in total she is a VEGETARIAN! Does not EAT ANIMALS! The people who work there then started to curse us with foul language that I will not repeat. UNBELIEVABLE! had a pint of lager here - didn't fancy risking any ale they had (can't remember if there was any now). I didn't mind it here though as it is pretty much an unchanged locals pub of the sort that are rare these days. Snarling_Mallard - 1 May 2016 10:26 |
Seemed a bit of a dive this, upon entering. Middle-aged male locals watching football on various screens, all three ale pubs facing the wrong way in that grim, "oh alright, Guinness it is then" fashion. But the locals, and staff, turned out to be friendly enough, and the Sunday roast was very nice and plentiful, so first impressions were incorrect in this case. If you're willing to give it a chance, it's perfectly acceptable lunchtime pub (can't speak for evenings mind). cid - 24 Oct 2010 21:47 |
