I thoroughly enjoyed this pub. My misses and I have eaten here, the food is excellent I see people complaining about it being hard to get food, we have never had this problem. The times when food is being served is clearly displayed, outside these times food is not served. There's always a great range of ever changing beers, the pub is in the Camra What pub guide, that says it all about the beer!
A lovely old English pub.

What a difference a few years can make :-(

If you like cliquey groups who actively distrust and make 'drop ins' feel uncomfortably unwelcome then this place is for you.

Food (If you can get it as per previous posts) is NOT vegetarian friendly and seems to contain a lot of "local" i.e. from the woods produce.

Beer choice uninspiring.

The rude barman ( who looks like a 70s porn star) is still turning people who want food away - even on Fridays :-(

Surprised by the last review, because the website clearly says no food Sunday and Monday. However, went there today for lunch and it was excellent, good food, good service and 4 real ales all small breweries.
It is a small village pub that has been extended but has managed to retain a cosy atmosphere. Only problem, we live over an hour away so probably will not visit it very often.

I can only give this 2 points as having confirmed on their website that they served food on Monday evenings, myself and friends visited the pub, only to be turned away by a really rude barman, who stated they didn't do food on Monday evenings (only for residents).

Terrible experience. Shame, as the pub has a great selection of beers and good menu. Therefore the 2 points are for the selection of beers, which we didn't get to taste.
