This was the favourite of my 6 pubs I tried before the Hearts game on Sunday. It's another locals pub with a far better selection of ales than I anticipated - Fyne Avalanche, Fallen Brewing Local Motive, Drygate Seven Peaks, Wharfebank Tether Blond & Inveralmond Lia Fail. I've always liked the latter. Worth a visit. Not too far from Tynecastle and quiet enough to allow a pleasant drink, even on a matchday. blue_scrumpy - 30 Jul 2015 20:30 |
Their website says you'll get a warm welcome. I was there last night for the referendum result as it had a late licence. I was asked to leave because someone complained about me, because I was English. Quite strange being a victim of prejudice, I did feel like kicking off but the YES voters I was talking to were good as gold and tried to convince the staff that I was causing no problems, but out I had to go. When I told someone about it this morning they said "well you wont be going there again". Actually, the opposite, I cannot wait to go there again and see if I get the same treatment. if I do, I WILL kick off pompeyron - 19 Sep 2014 11:02 |
Fantastic Saturday spent in this pub last weekend. In a group of a dozen Englishmen up to watch the Hearts game we were made fantastically welcome by staff & locals alike. Apart from a visit to Tynecastle for the second half of the football we spent the whole day here watching England beat Australia then France beat New Zealand in the Rugby World Cup. Three Real Ales on and very tasty pies in gravy for a mere 1.60. Toasties that id have to pay 3.50 for back in London cost a mere 1.10 here. Cant praise them highly enough. tangerineman - 14 Oct 2007 19:35 |
Good mix of clientele young and old. Large selection of guest ales and real ales. Public bar upstairs and lounge bar downstairs. Quiz night on a Tuesday for beer and 100 cash. Live music on a regular basis. Good place to watch the footie. Alistair Hogg - [email protected] - 21 Oct 2004 13:42 |
