The Albany looks quite POSH from the outside and is close to Earlsdon, so the Captain had a bit of a shock when he got inside. The place is wonderfully dingy with all sorts of crusty ne'erdowells and drug addled failures drinking and working here. CD went on free jukebox night and the music was principally reggae which was pleasing. A hammered old bird was putting most of the music on to flirt with a black guy, this was lovely. All beer was under £2, which would have been great if they'd had any real ale, instead the Captain was demoted to Banks smoothflow, which was in a bad but not bad-enough-to-send-back way. The barmaid was unfortunate looking, with inventive but unappealing piercings all over her chubby face. Her Celtic top identified her as a fake irish person so CD quickly got away from the bar before she could talk to him. 5/10. CaptainDrunk - 8 Jan 2015 22:49 |
Has changed hands again for the umpteenth time and seems to be having another facelift. covman45 - 26 Mar 2013 19:15 |
The Albany has had a fun and relaxed atmosphere for all walks of life rich or poor for the residents of Earlsdon for many many years . i have been enjoying the great vibes that have made the city arms / albany decision easy . unfortunately since the arrival of the latest senior bar bitch...... drinking there is.......... boston87 - 29 Nov 2012 21:33 |

I would guess this pub has gone down rapidly since its Good Beer Guide entry a few years back. The barmaid seemed to be struggling when asked what ciders she had available. Luckily I realised that the Pedigree and Hobgoblin she was pointing at was not in fact cider at all! However at 1.50 a pint, the real ales represented good value. We took a seat on some bench type seating that clearly needed a refurbish. The pool table was about the only thing that was new. Don't think I'd head back here in a hurry. blue_scrumpy - 6 Aug 2009 20:53 |
