Called in here on the off chance during a crawl of Shrewsbury while coming from the excellent 'Bull in the Barne' further up the road. The Salopian 'Darwin's Origin' was in superb condition !!! Another 'must call in' on future visits ! SecRATary - 6 Feb 2011 23:42 |
Agree with Shropspy it does have a hotel lounge feel, but in a nice way. Did not eat here but the low key music helped give it a very nice atmosphere, making it a nice relaxing pub for a meal or a chat or a pint. The inn is broken into 3 or 4 separate areas by the old room dividing walls but open all along the bar. The Salopian Darwins Origin was OK, but a bit sour/bitter for my taste but the Bass was fine. (Not getting the Salopian Ales so far but I'll keep trying). Wirral_RealAlians - 22 Mar 2010 20:40 |
Fine old black and white timbered building just over the roundabout across the Welsh bridge. Had 3 handpumps but only 2 were actually on. Serving the well known local beers of London Pride and Draught Bass (why, why, why, you're in Shropshire!). No fruit machines and very low level background music. Mature clientele, who were a little standoffish in my opinion. I had a pint of the Bass which was pretty good. It's a nice enough pub but a bit cliquey. ROBCamra - 30 Jan 2009 10:22 |
Nice pub just on the edge of the town centre area in Frankwell. Local ales. dpaajones - 4 Apr 2007 21:34 |
You could bring your granny in here. She could have a port and lemon and you could have a reasonable pint, including a couple of ales. Perhaps I just caught it on a quiet day. shropspy - 19 Jul 2006 15:04 |
