Been back here a couple of times recently, still a bit cliquish but a warm welcome from the landlord & staff. Hooky Bitter seems to be the standard offering, but pleasantly surprised to find the excellent Hooky Mild on offer at the last visit, however it's a shame that they don't seem to offer the Hooky seasonal ales as well. Food was improved, and we thought good value.

Further up the hill from the White Lion is the Red Lion and what a difference in welcome, smiles, chat and a bit of banter around the bar. The pub was reasonably full inside and out, the food looked pretty good to me, although we were not eating. There were 3 Hook Norton Beers available, we all had the standard Hooky which was in excellent form, also available was the new SDM, so it appears they carry the seasonal beer plus the rebadged Jackpot bitter. A special mention should go to the gorgeous Barmaid, who was chatty and very pleasant, we had an extra beer in there each such was the entrancement we were in. All in all a very decent village pub doing all the right things well.

Sampled food at lunch time recently, 9.99 two course deal. Excellent home cooked ham, free range eggs and chips which were even home made, heaven!! 3 Hooky beers on, house - cleverly named 'Red Pride', Haymaker and Hooky bitter. 3 out of 4 of us sampled each beer and found them to be excellent. Somebody here knows how to keep a celler. We returned for an evening meal last weekend, again 3 Hooky ales on. Hooky's newest beer Summer Haze, wonderful! The whole experience made for a most enjoyable evening. Locally sourced food, tasty and well cooked, and Hooky beer - what more does a man need? Staff were all smiley and very helpful, we shall try and get back as much as possible. Only wish we had a pub like this in our village. Couldn't understand why there were not more people enjoying this fantastic little pub. Maybe we should keep it secret so we can always have a table!! Fab job being done here, lets hope this will be a pub that makes it.

Some excellent meal deals this winter and a range of well-kept Hooky means we'll be returning regularly. Friendly landlord and food pretty good.

Went there for Sunday lunch recently, no room to sit in the bar, luckily it was sunny so we sat outside. However the staff seemed to forget all about us and we had to go and ask if our table was ready...
Being a Hooky pub I found it surprising that only Hooky bitter was available.
Food was OK but not cheap and the pub still seems a bit cliquish. Not sure I'd bother going back.
