I've been visiting this place ever since it opened although usually only during the Masters Snooker week. I wouldn't really expect real ale in an Irish Bar (not sure that I'd call it contrived - at least it is run and frequented by the Irish unlike O'Neills and othe chain Irish bars) but it serves possibly the best pint of Guiness that I've ever had in this country outside of the old Park Royal Staff Club. Pleasant and efficient staff and you can easily get into a conversation if you want to - and can understand some of the accents! cheshirecat - 8 Jan 2010 10:35 |
Just spent 5 days and 4 nights working in Neasdon near Wembley and living at the Wembley Ibis. The beer in the Ibis is an eye watering mental price so we ventured out into the town. As previous reviewers have said, Mannions is probably the best of the 6 pubs we visited, but that dosn't mean that it is exceptional. There is no real ale, just mass produced fizz and a very acceptable pint of Guinness. The decore isn't flash and the staff are pleasent. The locals are colourful, especially the little black dog and his rubber training shoe. 427scr - 7 Aug 2009 18:32 |
Visited this pub yesterday beforfe seeing Take That at the stadium. Friendly bar staff and locals and reasonably priced beer. Would visit again next time we go to Wembley chrissie99 - 6 Jul 2009 13:09 |
Yet another typical and contrived Irish bar. You pretty much know what you are going to get before you walk through the door although the dazzle from the glaringly bright lights does come as quite a shock. The interior is very plain and rather monotonous with all the clean surfaces doing nothing to deflect or soak up the light. There are at least a few things that attract the attention, a couple of ploughs and even a couple of rifles hanging from the ceiling, a model boat stuck on the wall, a few candles along the ledge by the brick fireplace, lists of Hurling champions. Strangely, the 2 signed rugby shirts that I would have thought would have pride of place are relegated to the walls of the corridor to the toilets. Like most Irish theme pubs, there are no Real Ales, just the usual standard mass market kegs and lagers plus the ubiquitous Guiness. The locals tend to have an interesting line in colourful language and you will inevitably find them thronged around the bar watching the racing. Mannions warrants a visit simply because the other pubs in Wembley are so poor and that does not construe this review as a particularly worthwhile recommendation. RogerB - 13 Jun 2008 16:40 |
Mannions is the best public house in North West London. The bar staff are very friendly and efficent and the guvnor Sheamus is a great laugh and always willing to put on the snooker when it's on the box. He never seems to be around during the day so I have to watch the snooker at home which is a bit of a drag but I can always rely on old Shamie for the evening session. Check it out folks for a taste of the real Wembley. PneumaticDrillTommy - 16 Feb 2008 19:18 |
