what a wonderful atmosphere this pub gave on its opening night, friendly staff, great food and a great selection of beverages, as for not knowing the prices for the carvery I should imagine it was an oversite, quite trivial in my opinion, but beggers can't be choosers, if ur not happy with the service you received then you well in your rights not to go in again, but it won't stopp me from going it I think its great to have the place open again and the decor has up lifted the place. well done to the new owners and staff keep it up your doing a grand job mitchtine - 25 Nov 2013 23:34 |
What a Fab make over this pub has had funny to the comment from Andy above. As we were in this pub on Fri and sat and sun and it was packed and the food was Fab I would advice any one to go and look for there self s as we can't thank the new owners for the make over keep up the good work And PS to andyshanter stay away if you don't like it :-) scarboro - 25 Nov 2013 22:22 |
Only second day for new owners when we visited. The barmaids first comment was that it was probably colder in the pub than outside! We persisted anyway and when I had chosen from the very uninspired choice of three marstons ales I had to wait for her to finish her conversation with her friend before telling her what my wife would like to drink! The pub had just been redecorated in a very dated black and white style and the unavoidable main impact was very loud and incongruous dance music. We had seen a sign saying there would be a Sunday carvery the next day so asked the price, the barmaid hand't got a clue about that!! We left after our drinks and tried to say a friendly goodbye to the barmaid anyway but she was not paying attention. Supposedly the food is good but we will never know as we won't be back!! Had passed this pub two weeks before and thought it was a shame it had closed down but even more of a shame that these particular new owners have taken it over!! andyshanter - 23 Nov 2013 23:47 |

Didn't try the music quiz or the food but the beer was shocking. An uninspiring choice of Greene King IPA and Abbot as regulars so I tried the guest which was a special from Castle Rock. I can't remember the name but it was so appalling I didn't manage to get through half of it before giving up. If you're looking for a session on real ale I'd give it a swerve.
