user reviews of U Pinkasu, Prague

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Nearly 2 years since I last went to U Pinkasu but I have to say, on the basis of a recent visit, that the improvement in standards that I noted last time has held. Beer is still great and the tripe soup was just superb.

This place went through a bad patch about 18 months ago - the cook made the not-to-be-repeated mistake of challenging my wife's explanation of how Czech food should be cooked! - but is now well and truly on the mend. well deserves its high reputation again.

A spaciuos, rambling backstreet gastro-pub serving two regular beers: Velkopopovicky tmavy and Pilsner Urquell. The beer is supplimented by a wide range of spirits and a comprehensive food menu available at all sessions. I did not eat here during my vivit last night, but the portions seemed generous.

In the beer garden, parts of the original stonework of this building and the adjoining church remain visible, setting a fascinating backdrop against which to sup your beer.

Inside there are three main drinking aras: as you enter from the street, a corridor drinking area separates a restaurant section on the left from the "pub" proper on the right.

Jugs are in use throughout, both for metric "pints" and "halves", and the beer is about 70 pence for a "pint".

The pub is close to Mustek metro station, it is a good pub and worth a visit.
