user reviews of the Folly Winebar, Petersfield

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Ive read some of the reviews and I think the comments were meant for a review about the pub downstairs the folly ale house not the folly wine bar upstairs which is the restaurant with a completely different owner. I go to this restaurant very frequently and all of my friends and family love it. The food is all cooked to order and is delicious, the service is excellent and the owner Mary is lovely. Mary is very welcoming and will always accommodate if someone has an allergy or would like the dish cooked differently. I give this restaurant 10 out of 10 and would highly recommend it to everyone.

Irritating loud-mouth people tend to hog the bar area, thus denying anybody else room to get served. Full of estate agent-types who want to be seen around town. Good atmosphere at times but generally pretty dull.

Fabulous 'trendy wine bar' now so much back in vogue. I used to drink in there many years ago, and it was a pleasure to reaquaint myself with the place, and the chef (now owner!).
Vaulted ceilings ofset by good low lighting gives the place a fresh yet intimate feel.
Food is excellent, especially the Fajitta's, a signature dish.
The owner, Mary, is a very good host. Nothing is too much trouble and together with her efficient staff, makes the place hum.
I heard a rumour that the Chef is looking for his 1st Michelin star, so good things to come!

I came here with my girlfriend late on Saturday night (11 Nov) given our local H-File, before going on to the Vertigo nightclub. This relatively small place was lacking people, but crucially was lacking any kind of atmosphere and therefore seemed a bit on the soulless side. At least we were served quickly though! We did not stay long at all, barely finishing our drinks, given how soporific the place was. I preferred the nearby George for a pre-Vertigo drink.

Don't let the name put you off! A cracking bar serving a good mix of real ales, lagers and wines. There's a real chilled-out feel to the place; the staff are really friendly as are the regulars. Plays great music and has a Comedy Club every fortnight.
Drinks tend to be a little pricy, but this only serves to give the place a more up-market feel.
What are you waiting for, get yourself down there!
