The address seems all wrong for the county (Lincolnshire) and the post code (PE24?) Steamer1 - 3 Oct 2016 22:13 |
We went in here Tuesday 20th July in the evening. We found the staff attentive and acknowledged you when you came in.The Batemans XXXB and XB was very nice. The outdoor seating area was very pleasant, clean and tidy and nicely planted. There were a few locals and a couple of other visitors enjoying the surroundings.A much nicer staff welcome here than compared to The Woolpack and The Red Lion in the same village. Weeeeelll! What can I say!! Very disapointed since my last visit. Change of landlords and of beer (or lack of!). Only good thing I can say about it now is there's a tv for the footy, oh and the toilets are clean. Bad things - Lack selection of beer, no food, miserable landlord's wife (he was ok though) and no pork scratchings - pah! I'll give them 6 months before it's boarded up, Woolpack down the road maybe a bit tatty but run by a very friendly team. timbo77 - 30 Aug 2009 23:02 |
superb place to watch the footy and drink the quality local ales. Had a fantastic time there, don't rember much of the second half of the footy or actually leaving the pub! Must be the beer, no hangover though! timbo77 - 2 Aug 2009 18:18 |
By far the best of Batemans remaining 2 pubs in the village, a lovely small multi roomed pub at the heart of the community judging from all the sporting trophies. Clean and tidy, a bank of 6 handpumps dispensed 4 Batemans brews and 2 guests, one of which was from the towns other brewery Riverside. Didn't try the food but it looked fine. Well worth getting off the train for. The Angel up the road is now closed, as is the small Batemans pub round the back of the market square (The Ship?), and the Red Lion didnt appear to open either.
