Definitely a place that specialises in food and offers beer as a sideline rather than a pub. I went there on a Sunday afternoon and waited at the bar along with another customer for a lengthy period before eventually being served. The many staff behind the bar seem much more concerned with serving their tables for diners (looking for juicy tips?) and do not even give any eye contact let alone an acknowledgement. In keeping with its food-led pretensions, the beer is fine but now over-priced. Avoid on a Sunday unless you are dining.

Was supposed to be studying all day at St George's but after a shitty couple of days decided to take a break and head here for a roast and a couple of pints because 'I'm worth it'! I had the slow roast pork belly-mmmmmmmmmm. The best roast I've had in a very long time accompanied by a couple of well kept ales. The staff were friendly, there was a nice mix of families, couples and regulars in and some good tunes in the back ground. Suffice to say I didn't get much more study done but my soul was edified! Recommended.

Been in this pub a few times and was in just recently on a visit to London. I had an outstanding pint of Wandle Ale, in fact I had two or three over the course of an afternoon. No complaints with the beer at all but I had the feeling that this place is trying to re-position itself as a food out-let that sells beer rather than a pub that sells food. If I was going on a pub crawl in Tooting, this one would be first on the list as an early visit, while you don't need to actively think about your behaviour.

Sorry a bit late, but these are my notes from a visit on July 14, 2007:
The wife and I visited the Selkirk in Tooting on a beautiful sunny day, prior to taking in the football 'friendly' Tooting & Mitcham v AFC Wimbledon.
Drinks were expensive - �3-18 for two halves of cider (That was then !)
Nice atmosphere though, there's a huge conservatory leading out into the beer garden. Parking a nightmare.
The bar billiards table: One of Ken Hussey's, post-war Jelkes with thrupenny bit legs. The muckiest surface I've ever seen, couldn't have seen a brush for about 5 years. Rolled left about a half ball all over, once I was able to suss it, got the break and the split going at the end and got a 3k break on it. All things being equal, a very nice table and have seen a hell of a lot worse.
As with many non-league tables, they're never in the right place, this one has a leather settee alongside the entire left flank of the table. backing on to it. I had to laugh when wifey had to do a shot by walking round the other side, kneeling on the settee and playing the shot with the cue leaning over the back of it. I've seen everything now.

Nice pub with a good cider and beer range. Nice outdoor space, good food, friendly staff and an interesting range of entertainment. Liek the reviewer below, I'd put it alongside the Antelope (and increasingly the ever improving Wheatsheaf) in terms of the best pubs in Tooting.
