Had a quiet meal here on a Sunday evening after having stopped for a drink near the end of a walk over Souther Fell earlier. Good Robinsons beer, plus guest. Good food, including Venison burger with rocket, stilton and chutney, and minted lamb and sweet potato pie. Reasonable prices, too. shaggyorigin - 7 Oct 2012 22:12 |
Stopped a night and stayed the week. The breakfast is very good, one of the best. The warm welcome from the wood fire is truly magic, Andre and the staff are friendly too. All of the food was good, and the soups in particular were excellent after a day up the tops. Beer is mainly Robinsons, tried them all, the XB was very good. Stuck with the XB all week - an excellent consistent session ale. Even got Stowford Press on draft - and it's kept well too - kept a good edge to it - and so far from HR8...ha ha. off_down_the_farmers - 25 Feb 2012 14:52 |
Stopped here after a long day walking. Food and beer top notch. Accomodation is great too as are the breakfasts. Friendly staff and some very attractive ones too. mineisalandlord - 7 Mar 2008 17:17 |
Had lunch here after a morning's walking on the nearby fells and it was superb. The homemade pies were absolutely delicious.......and you can buy them to take home too!! Jennings beers were very good. Staff were friendly and service was good. It was fairly busy on a weekday lunchtime. Would highly recommend. spacehopper - 16 Dec 2007 14:25 |
Good beer (Jennings Lakeland and Cumberland both on draft - served cooler than at most places). Wonderful food selection and quality. Top class accommodation yet inexpensive. The service completely went to pieces on the night they had a kitchen fire (poorly managed) but otherwise an excellent pub. Trev - 30 Jun 2005 11:49 |
