A nice traditional pub, with nice staff very efficient it had a very warm feel to it ale was nice and food was very good. Could not fault anything so Would I go back? Definitely Would I tell a friend? Of course Hydro84 - 7 Nov 2013 16:47 |
Stopped on the way back from holiday - it's a convenient diversion off the A303. Can't comment on the beer as I was driving but the food was very good and the service friendly and efficient. I'd certainly come back and it's an ideal (and far superior) alternative to the the Little Chefs and McDonalds. If that sounds like 'damning with faint praise' it's not meant to be. It's a very decent pub. Cover_Point - 21 Jun 2012 09:08 |
With The Ship "gone" and the Butt aiming at the dog trade the George inherits the mantle of being the iconic village pub. But with yet more new leaseholders in there now do they want the challenge? Hall & Woodhouse is a matter of taste - but they should not sell very stale beer and short measures. BeerEnthusiast - 5 Dec 2011 10:51 |
New landlords arrived at this pub in October 2009, and have been breathing new life into this lovely 16th century building, with traditional flagstone flooring and good views over the main square. Definitely worth a diversion from the A303. We stayed here overnight and the room was quite reasonable - the bed itself was very comfortable. SageOfDenmarkHill - 8 Nov 2010 15:12 |
Had a pint of H & W Hopping Hare and a coffee for herself. 4-80! Beer was fine, and coffee was pronounced very good. Didn't stop to eat, as I can get ripped off more than ten quid for fish and chips at lots of places, and don't need it here. The_Final_Arbiter - 6 Apr 2010 15:05 |
