Went in on Sunday & the roast beef was very good, the pint of Lancaster Black was spot on. sootythebeerbear - 20 Sep 2010 10:49 |
Probably the most expensive pub in the western world, 3.05 for a pint of Lancaster blonde, have to say though it was superb. Food a little expensive just under nine quid for a burger. Well it must keep the pond life out. G7SYY - 18 Apr 2010 21:42 |
My mate used to work here a few years ago and raved about the place, so we took in a visit over Christmas. Fair to say that it wasn't anywhere near the quality he had talked about (which he acknowledged). Most of the ale was off, and the pint I had wasn't exactly a world beater. Noticed a plaque on the wall tracing all the landlords past and present, and the one of the mid 90's had moved on, so I guess that explains it. As for the 'mistress' comment below, I believe we saw at least one occurrence of that, interrupting a rather amorous couple as we sat down in (what we thought was) a quiet corner to the right of the bar. I hope he washed his hands before he left. I wouldn't rush to recommend it really. Quinno - 12 May 2008 21:43 |

Really great pub for a number of reasons: 1) If you've got a mistress you can keep her safely out of town, but really impress her at this friendly out-of-town pub/restaurent with good prices, great + friendly staff and great views. 2) If the above doesn't apply to you go anyway as it's a great place to go to, great food etc etc.I've nothing negative to say about it...although if you're a student (I'm not) you may find it a bit "countrified".
