| Handy little Wetherspoons if staying at the nearby Copthorne Hotel as it just across the canal. Modern interior and outside drinking area. Being smaller they didn't have the vast range of beers normally available (no real cider) in other outlets but still had a few tasty well kept ales (two from Backyard Brewhouse, Walsall were very good indeed). | Had a lovely day at The Waterfront Inn (wetherspoons) yesterday. Has a great view of the canal right next to it. Also enjoyed a couple of the ales that they had on, one of them being Abbot Ale which was very nice, I also had a nice ale which I was told was one of their christmas specials. I was told that they have a lot of guest ales on throughout the week even though they only had 5 ale pumps. Yesterday was Sunday Club and I had a lovely roast beef dinner, fast service and food was excellent. I enjoyed my visit their and staff were very friendly. jimbo1990 - 12 Dec 2011 12:52 |
| Decent pints of Sadlers beers 2 on. The Mellow Yellow was very good also had Abbot, Pedigree and GK IPA on. Generally the normal food was OK grills, burgers etc. but the Sunday lunches leave a lot to be desired! A Lamb shoulder ordered came out stone cold and when returned a second attempt was so intensly nuked the meat was so tough it couldn't be cut let alone chewed! Admittedly the cost of the meal was refunded without any fuss but stick to what you do well JDW and leave the Sunday lunches to the specialists. | Very small wetherspoons located on the canal side surrounded by a business park aswell as many other bars and clubs. Merry Hill shopping centre is a 5 minute walk away where the Abraham Derby (very big and very busy wetherspoons) is located. I get the feeling this place was maybe built to take some of the pressure off the Abraham Derby but it doesnt seem to be working. The main reason is people won't bother walking to this place when theres a wetherspoons in Merry Hill. Otherwise this is a nice little place which really comes alive on a hot sunny day as there is a big outside area and the bay windows are opened up letting lots of sun light into the pub. Usual wetherspoons benefits such as super chilled draft beer and reasonable food. Only 5 ale pumps but had a nice selection none the less. Few things I noticed. Firstly the amount of tables is ridiculous, they've basically tried to cram as many tables in as possible which gives the place a cramped untidy look. Also this place was pretty dead when I went at 11:30am, I mean I was the only person in there. But when speaking to the bar staff they esured me that it gets busy at lunch time and quiting time thanks to the surrounding business park. They didnt mention the evening though. If your ever shopping at Merry Hill and want to avoid the massive amount of people in the Abraham Derby have a walk to this place and enjoy a nice chilled pint on the canal front. thatchrisdude - 7 Aug 2008 19:39 |
