I have yet to drink in a pub so wanting a bit of TLC. The staff were completly indifferent to our needs, or those of the other customers. Reverend James (Brains) which can be such a beautiful thing to drink was undrinkable. A trip to the loos was an eye-opener; there were two buckets to collect the urine as it passed through the pipes!!! rotter - 14 Oct 2008 12:49 |
A dive. Most of the customers were drinking vertically and had their volume control permanently set to full on. Toilet was clean, though. anonymous - 2 Jan 2007 11:20 |
Some pals and myself phoned up to see if they would be showing the rugby on saturday, the reply was yes. We got down there early and all had lunch and had a few beers and watch the game, all of a sudden they turn to telly over because two chaps had come in and they didnt want to watch rugby. pathetic, our tables were filthy, beer was flat and the toilets were a disgrace. I wouldnt recommend this pub to anyone. WHen we asked to speak to the manager, we were told NO. This is a Brains pub, and a bad one at that. UP the road is a much friendlier and cleaner pub, the Coach and HOrses, and the beer was out of this world anonymous - 16 Oct 2006 12:26 |
One of my favourite pubs. It has a decent selection of beers and lagers. The staff were excellent to me during the months I spent in Chepstow. It is a younger persons bar - if you are over 30 - don't bother. Alison the manageress does an excellent job. I wish it was still my local. I have nothing but very, very fond memories of 2004 and 2005 there. flyingscotsman - 14 Jul 2006 18:02 |
Absolutely appalling place, the staff too concerned with their mates, disgusting language used over the microphone, homophobic comments non stop during a supposed "quiz night" (Sun 5th March) Seemed to be run by "non brainers" I thought BRAINS was better than this. meveritt - 5 Mar 2006 22:09 |
