Decent sized corner location pub with two separate areas off a room with island bar. Slightly worn, but acceptable. Cheapest beer in the area, bar Wetherspoon. Does food. Gay bar with drag acts. Two casks. OK place. Fairly average during the day, but appears from photos to become more distinctive in the evening when acts are on. SilkTork - 31 Jan 2016 12:14 |
10 of us made the journey from London to Southamton on Saturday for panto, a great meal at Oxford's then we thought a nice night cap before going back to the hotel. What a big mistake, I can't say anyone was rude because after waiting over 10 minutes at the bar holding my money, I never actually spoke to anyone. The bleach haired woman behind the bar appeared to be serving in the area where I was stood, and continued to ignor me and served people who she appeared to know, being new in town I guess my luck was out. We never did get a drink and proceded back to the hotel where service as you would expect was excellent. Might I add even at the theatre we were served in next to no time and it was far busier than this pub. We won't be visiting again. loverugby - 14 Dec 2010 12:58 |
Seems like an normal town pub, and I didn't have realised it was a gay bar until I read the comment below, but it does explain the 2 transvestites sitting in the corner. No real ale on when we visited, but the rugby was on telly, the beer was cold and the crisps were good so it was enjoyable afternoon. I wouldn't deliberately avoid, but there is better beer within a few minutes' walk. ETA - 16 Mar 2009 14:18 |
