Currently closed and rumoured to be up for redevelopment. Number11 - 9 Aug 2015 13:12 |
Pub serves the surrounding estate, and I'd guess there aren't many outsiders among its clientele. There is a huge contrast between the public pub which was full of extremely loud, sweary types and a little bit intimidating. Some yob had gobbed on the wall of the Gents. However, the lounge bar is nice and quiet with a very pleasant older crowd. The barman was very welcoming and didn't demur when I asked for a replacement pint of AK, having noticed he'd just changed the barrel. The public bar gets 3, but the lounge bar gets 8, so I'll award this pub a 6 overall. Number11 - 17 Aug 2014 18:09 |
Had a great time at this pub on more than one occasion since moving to st albans. They have great people behind the bar and from what the regulars in there are saying the new guvnor has changed it and its now got better people in and no trouble anymore like it once had. Shame it doesn't do food, cos its probably only thing missin now, gotta go to another pub to eat, so whoever that's down too, yr missin a great chance of keepin us in longer if you feed us. mixie58 - 19 Mar 2011 09:28 |
I think I've been a bit harsh on this place in the past. OK, so I still wouldn't venture into the lefthand bar under any circumstances but I've been in the righthand side a couple of times recently and downed several perfectly adequate pints of McMullen Country in the company of other jolly drunkards. matt_k - 25 Jan 2010 16:23 |
Local pub for local people. Beer not great. RedHarvest - 18 Dec 2009 12:29 |
