Great pub excellent choice of good value food and competitively priced beer. Very good service from the two guys normally behind the bar. Everything a local should be. 10/10 Maverick69 - 8 Jan 2015 21:35 |
Quickly becoming my local while I'm in the Maidenhead area. Polite staff, good turnover of locals, sports TV, at least two real ales which are fine and the food is good - new menu just launched. A good mix of locals and travelling folk working in the area and everyone is made welcome. I think the gaffer does a good job and his staff are well trained and well versed as the food and the real ale. I would recommend it. Give it a try. Mcloj - 19 Mar 2014 07:45 |
Only one guest ale I could find, a St Peters ale of some sort, which was ok but could of been better considering it's a Cask Marque pub. Food cheap and cheerful - good deals on meals for two. Service wasn't great. Was told when asked for a coffee that he had just cleaned the machine so he can't serve me one. Perhaps cleaning the coffee in the middle of the evening isn't a great idea if you then can't use it for customers?Just as unhelpful when I asked to change an order to get the special offer as I was told "it's in the till now", and when I tried to order dessert at 9pm (too late apparently though the menu's were still out). Perhaps he was just having an off night. bluelaverda - 24 Jul 2011 00:12 |
Good pub with relaxed feel and usually nicely busy which I always find encouraging. Usually only one guest ale on. Lots of screens in various sizes showing sports but not intrusively so. In other words, not with volume turned up to maximum and not with loads of refreshed chaps in replica shirts. My pint was presented with a cheery declaration of, "There you go me ol' china." I half expected Pete Beale to walk in. stevosgloriosus - 30 May 2009 21:54 |
Lacking all pretensions, this is a decent local boozer and surprisingly convivial given it lies on the very busy Bath Road. My friend's request for a "a pint of David Mellor" was met with a sigh. BoehmBawerk - 31 May 2007 17:52 |
