What a great pub with fantastic hosts. 14 of us just walked in off the street hoping to be fed, (should have booked first) this was not a problem for the landlord and landlady. We all had an array of food which was not only filling but also very tasty. Good to see a pub being kept clean in between customers. We enjoyed our meal so much we even booked in for Sunday lunch. We will definately be going back well done. eggbutt - 7 Jun 2011 20:27 |
Today, May 2nd 2011 my partner took me for a late lunch here at the Durham Ox. I must say that we both have never had such an unappetising lunch. There wasn't much choice as the landlord had underestimated the holiday trade. We ordered the steak pie. The meat was tasteless, I believe it came out of a tin! The chips and veg were cooked from frozen, the only thing which was edible was the flaky pastry crust. The diners on the next tabel to me were also disappointed with their meal. The battered fish they had was tasteless and had been cooked from frozen. When the diners who had had the fish left, the landlord came over to the vacated table and started to spray the table surface with a perfumed spray. I was still eating and the spray wafted over and tainted my food. Totally unhealthy! I have been to the Durham Ox before and was totally satisified by the delicious food I had and was expecting the same again. I believe that the new people have only been there a month, and that the meals are cooked by the wife. I will NOT go back there again. Not recommended at all!!! Gillygogs - 2 May 2011 18:23 |
