Best nachos ive had! Meal was possibly on the pricey side, drink most certainly, however the food was very good and good quality drink. Layouts maybe not the greatest but the staffs friendly enough, had a good bit of banter. Scored it a generous 8, portions ok, foods good, downside? probably 1 over priced per meal.

I've been going to this pub for 8 years; since I turned 18.
I went in yesterday with my friends and I bought a pint of Staropramen.
The pint was of a very poor quality and it did not taste like a pint of Staropramen,
I drink this drink in many pubs and this pint didn't taste like any of those.
I complained to the manager - who is new - and he
said it tasted fine and that's what it was meant to taste like.
I've never had a problem in this pub before but found the manager was rude and defensive,
what ever happened to the customer is always right? He clearly knew nothing about beer,
or the purity laws, total joke. I don't think I'll be drinking beer in here again!

Although the facade oozes genuine, rustic charm, once inside you feel a little let down by the all too familiar, homogenous, bog-standard "pub refurb" interior. Whilst very smart it lacks the kind of country charm that would benefit the place.

Plus points though, the food is excellent (if a little over priced). Why is it that bangers & mash in a pub now costs twice the price of a main course in any decent Newcastle Italian restaurant. Also the real ale is well kept and the staff were extremely kind and helpful. Well worth a visit.

ps the no 74 bus from the gallowgate drops you at the door for less than 2 quid!!

Lovely pub with friendly atmosphere. Drink is not expensive. No pool table though.
