The Wetherspoons chain decided to bring their wisdom to Cape Hill - cheap and pleasant drinking and eating experiences for an up and coming area. It actually worked for a few weeks - then things got steadily worse and they bailed out, leaving the locals to grind the pub into the gutter. There can be up to 40 nationalities in there at any one time, which means that, on the bright side, racist gangs dominating the pub is almost an impossibility. However everyone is mostly concerned with either smuggling shoplifted aldi brandy into their 99p pints or selling you meat they've nicked from Asda. Great if you want cheap undrinkable beer, men taking their shirts off and offering everyone out, blokes punching their wives in the face, and some cheap bacon. drsausages - 14 Sep 2008 00:18 |
