Popped in for a pint last Sunday whilst walking. Nice pub with friendly and efficient service.

Great little pub to take in either as part of a walk or for a quality evening meal or even to stay at (I haven't but have had good reports from friends who have). Beer choice is very good, beer quality is excellent. The staff were friendly and their helping out of a family sat next to me with a little 'un (high chair, bottle warming, nappy changing facility) was first class according to the family. Hot meals looked very good - I only had sandwiches this time and it was certainly tasty. This place is what all Lakeland pubs should endeavour to be like.

Agreed. This is a sound Lakeland Pub with good beer and adequate food offering in a beautiful spot away from the tourist traps.

Pleasant to sit outside, even under the extended roof when raining.

Take a walk from here to "Slaters Bridge"-about 15 minutes. Worth seeing.

Landlords keen that walkers cars do not fill the car park though and other parking is limited

Worth a detour on a blustery day in the Lakes, roaring fire and a good pint of Conniston Old man, dogs allowed in public bar

A nice place to stop and rest your weary legs after a hard day's walk with a lovely little area to sit outside and have a pint on a beautiful late winter/early spring day.

Inside seems a bit cold and clinical for me. I love a Lakeland pub to be warm and inviting, but this place has had a bit too contemporary a makeover and has lost that feel.

Having said this though, we called in on both days of our recent jaunt and found the staff to be friendly and the beer to be very good. Will definitely be back and might try the food next time too.
