Cosy pub, friendly welcome and efficient service - and a homely atmosphere. Food is important here, but nonetheless a pub. Excellent homemade pies and generous portions. this is a Thwaites tied house offering a change of ales from an area, understandably, dominated by JW Lees. Three cask ales to choose from. Both the Original and the seasonal were in good form on my visit. Well worth a look. 9/10. wobblybob - 3 Jan 2017 23:12 |
My husband and I recently had Sunday lunch at the hare and hounds and were surprised at how cosy and welcoming the place was, we were recommended to go there as they do real Ale on Cask and the food was meant to be great and cheap. We were not disappointed the food was great with huge portions i had a Sunday roast the beef was cooked perfectly just couldn't finish as i was stuffed. my husband had the steak and chips and again you could tell they were home made chips, delicious! All in all a great little pub, great food, lovely friendly atmosphere and most important it was nice warm due to the open log burning fires... See you next Sunday... leanne1825 - 7 Dec 2010 16:20 |
nice pub but a little small, plus feels very stuffy and has a funny smell possibly to do with the food it sells dinel - 27 Jan 2010 13:45 |
Cliquey and smoky. Woe betide you if you try and get to the bar at tea time when the regulars congregate. Staff as cliquey as the customers. A warm welcome is not assured. If there is seating outside, it must be at the rear in the car park. I haven't seen any. Cask Thwaites usually available but specify or you'll get smooth Mad4MMR - 18 Aug 2006 10:21 |
