Went in here after leaving the awful Goose next door, much better atmosphere, cleaner, and friendlier staff. We were looking for somewhere that did food on a Sunday evening, and they were still serving, but we couldn't find a table, as time was an issue, we couldn't hang about so we left to look elsewhere. Try here instead of the Goose! budvar_1 - 17 Nov 2010 11:25 |
Great pub. I wasn't too keen on it years ago as it was a bit shabby and seemed to cater totally for the Toon Army, but it's been done out and now it's much better. The upstairs dining area is very smart and food is good, hot and arrives fast. Friendly staff too, can't fault the service. Downstairs still gets the same mix of people, young and old, still gets full on match days and the pub opens at 9am...the breakfast menu includes beans on toast and porridge! (plus you can have a pint with that too if you really must). Earliest I've been in was 10am and it's nice to sit and watch the world go by with a pint of Carlsberg, which is about the cheapest in town and great quality. Definitely one of the better pubs in town. Recommended. bringback77 - 11 May 2009 13:51 |
Used to drink in here all the time when younger. Went downhill over the years. Ok for a couple i suppose for a change when up the Haymarket but its canny rough now! scoreboard1 - 25 Nov 2008 13:45 |
