This pub use to be the best around 14 years ago the staff we happy and friendly the chefs cooked with love as it was a family run pub then fullers brought it and that all changed it'd not the same i wouldnt go there again i went for a drink with the family a couple of months ago and it was horrible they have redone it and i liked it the old way.

Cavernous, chain-type pub. If you're OK with that, no problem, but I prefer a more personal experience. Probably great for the families with kids who want to let them loose in the beer garden, but this pub wasn't for me. What they do, they do OK though.

We went to this pub for a rare family meal out. When we got there they had no record of our booking and the carvery that we had been assured was available ran out at 4pm.

When ordering the food, we were told we had a 45 minute wait so asked if the children could have some bread whilst we were waiting. The chap looked at us and laughed and shook his head. He told us it wouldn't make our food come any quicker and we would have to wait 45 minutes for the bread.

At this point we walked out and went to the Happy Cheese 2 minutes down the road where we were served very quickly and had a wonderful roast dinner and service with a smile.

Will never go back to this pub again.

I visited on 31st October for the first time in a few years. Although nothing much had changed, apart from more outdoor seating, the food and beer quality had improved. The ham egg and chips was very good with plenty of thick slices of ham and two eggs. The beer was also good. Always a good spot to eat and drink when camping at the nearby Forestry Commission camp site.

I had a party with many of my friends here and I have to say the night was ok. Previous visits with my family have been ok with meals being fine. However some bad points I have to say is that I know several people that work there and there about as useful as a chocolate teapot and as happy as Eeyore. And I have heard a story about children running around naked whilst people are trying to eat their food........
