Rediscovered this pub, last week, on a walk from Roose. A quirky inn ,full of character , with a good selection of beers and excellent meals , which were reasonably priced. Staff were welcoming and friendly (well done Jane ). Delightful outside dining area also available. So impressed with the Brown Cow, returned there with friends, yesterday normanterry - 29 Sep 2015 09:25 |
I agree with the last 2 posters - an excellent pub, generous helpings of good food and great choice of beer, but the one barman referred to is the down side to the place. Still worth taking a risk despite him, as it's basically a good pub. FamilyMan479 - 22 Dec 2012 18:32 |
Great pub shame the staff are a bunch of idiots apart from the waitress staff. All the barman are ignorant, one seems to make you very unwelcome and he's a brummy! Beer is excellent though and the food massive in portions but too many items on the menu make deciding a nightmare. Perfect pub to sit out Cumbrian - 31 Dec 2010 15:54 |
Classic, traditional boozer in the lower part of this pleasant town, down a winding street from the church and castle. It's small, with one opened out area with two distinct parts, a bar to the right as you enter and a larger area to your right. Both are quite characterful, with brasses, beams and real fires in both. A pleasant outdoor area is large and had most of the trade on a sunny day. Food is served but, while popular, it doesn't overshadow the boozer status- it's pub grub and the prefix 'gastro-' definitely doesn't fit here. The beer is from a mixture of nationals and locals, with London Pride, coniston Bluebird, Theakston's XB, Hawkshead Windermere Pale and Black Sheep available. The Windermere was excellent. This is the pub to head to if in the village, and for good reason. Carlurmston - 1 Jun 2010 20:03 |
A dream of a pub.I believe it is open all day,and serves food most times. Not my local, but always has an excellent range of beers. One of the best pubs in the whole of Furness. delstefan - 29 Nov 2008 15:19 |
