| A good Hall and Woodhouse pub with reasonable looking bar food. Only H&W beer of course, so don't expect anything great and definitely ask to taste the ales before you buy. Peroni at over four pounds per pint! The major advantage to this place is that it doesn't have pumping music at the weekends (although it is busy), so you can actually have a conversation here unlike most places down the road in Ashley Cross. | I took a friend to this old haunt last week and WHAT A DIFFERENCE A RE-FIT MAKES! There is nothing locally to match the spacious dining with the seperate amazing 'coffee' areas. We had fantastic service, we just had coffees some tap water starters and desserts. I had mackarel pate (to die for), followed by an almond and berry tart with clotted cream ice cream - I can't remember what my friend had but she loved it. All for less than �20. | This is a great pub. A good buzz in the main bar and the back room is a fine venue when they have bands on. The quiz nights a bit of a laugh too. Cant comment on the food these days although it used to be very good when John and Gill ran the place. For a night out though the pubs fine and the beers are always well kept.
