Closed for a month, following a large drug investigation and seven people arrested: "Officers found and seized substances believed to be Class A drugs along with a substantial amount of money" (BBC News). There seems a possibility it will be shut down for good. It was never anything special, though, and was always a little on the "rough" side. 5/10 HenPen - 27 Oct 2012 12:39 |

My family & I were in Weymouth last week and saw The George Inn. From the outside with chalk board menu's looked good. We went back around 8pm and ordered some food. Service was poor but we were not in a hurry so were ok with this. Ordered food at the bar & paid for it and told up to an hour wait - most of the tables in the seating area upstairs were empty but decided to wait. An hour an 20 minutes later the food arrived - it was the worst food I have ever had!! Two of our party had choosen the Veal was was so over cooked it was like cardboard and served with veg that was so under cooked is was not edible. Another had fillet steak which was dry and over cooked. I had the Sea Bass which was very oillyThe and over cooked. Just when we thought things couldnt get any worst a heavy rock music band started playing so loud that we decided just to up & leave. Had I not paid for the meal before hand I certainly would not have paid. Also one of my party commented that the toilet was very dirty. This is certainly my last visit to The Geoge Inn. shaunatsea - 5 May 2012 15:34 |
Agree with Ledger's first comment. But was there at lunchtime the week before but did not eat. One pint was enough. There are plenty better pubs in Weymouth. addlened - 27 Apr 2012 09:16 |
Four of us visited this pub last night, we were very disappointed. We found it dirty, needing a makeover in all departments, toilets were not very clean. Dusty artificial flowers everywhere which should have seen the bin years ago. The only 2 positive things about this pub was the view over the harbour, the waitress was pleasant. The starters were ok. We all ordered steaks, the T bone was without the bone and very small, the 8oz ribeye which is usually very tender was quite small, dry and although requested "medium rare" was medium well-done! the fillet was ordered medium but was "very rare", the steak which came with the mixed grill looked like a piece of cardboard, very over done. Some extremely loud music started at around 9.15 which was Karioke we couldn't hear ourselves speak. This evening was one I want to forget. Ledger - 15 Apr 2012 13:51 |
