Still one of my favourite pubs. I called in last week, the beer is still on top form, I took advantage of their new early menu, which was lovely especially with 50% off, MaybeMoby - 5 Dec 2010 10:56 |
Beautiful pub in lovely surroundings, off the beaten track but well signposted! Friendly, helpful staff & superb food (huge portions!) A great evening spent here.. NWLondon_Girl - 18 May 2009 10:40 |
Attractive, rambling pub in the secluded (and hard to reach) village of Swettenham. With the church, it dominates the village, and it is worth the effort to visit. It's a classic country pub, with several low beamed rooms spread out on slightly different levels lengthways in quite a narrow building. Spotlessly clean, including the toilets. Plenty of brass fittings, pictures etc. add to the atmosphere. There is also a very pleasant beer garden surrounded by trees. 5 beers- Black Sheep, Landlord and 3 guests, 2 from microbreweries- tried these and they were in fine form. Service friendly and polite. It's very much a destination for food and gets very busy in the evening, and though it looked very good it was rather out of my price range- circa 16 for the average main course. Still, if you've got the money I'm sure it's excellent. It's handy for walkers and can be considered a classic Cheshire village inn- definitely worth a visit. Carlurmston - 22 Apr 2009 12:43 |
This Pub's gone on to win award after award, and is one of my favourites in Cheshire. Great beer/food, fab surroundings, forest and lavender field. MaybeMoby - 25 Jun 2007 09:15 |
Good pub - nice area. Not very well organised when it comes to events. Tried visiting their firework display - complete nightmare with the traffic situation. Too popular for it's own good! Gazz1e - 17 Nov 2004 16:55 |
