The world would be a better place if this muppet sold up and left the trade.

I can see all the points raised in here about the R&C. My preference is for "eccentric" and isn't the world a better place for them.
Best beer in town on the weekend we visited.

Reckon on around 5 ales on, although none of them from microbreweries, quality was pretty good and the pub staff were very friendly. Quite a homely feel to the place and they make you feel at home. The Whiskey list was impressive.

Quite a range of beers although hamstrung by Punch Taverns list, however there is usually at least one beer to satisfy the beer snobs. The landlord is very friendly and enthusiatic and is very much into single malt whiskies, there are about 90 available! A fairly large group of us came here for a pre-ordered/pre-booked meal, they cook coped admirably and I must say the food was excellent.

Perhaps its a sad reflection on the quality of the pubs in Highworth but the local CAMRA veg have put this place in the 2010 Good Beer Guide, all I can say is certainly wouldn't gain an entry in the Good Landlord Guide if such a thing existed. Honestly I've tried to like the place but its a dump precided over by an 'eccentric' (for want of a better word) landlord who appears to resent anybody actually coming into the place.
My advice, don't bother carry on 3 miles to the Crown Brewery tap in Lechlade, or turn left a couple of miles and go to the Radnor Arms at Coleshill.
