Situated just off the Bethnal Green Road, this craft beer pub had a good selection of ales. There were 4 cask ales - Purity Bunny Hop, Salopian Fair Side, Ilkley Spring & One Mile End Docker's Delight. Ciders were Once Upon A Tree Tumpy Ground & Turner's Pear Cider. None of the handpulls or keg options have pumpclips, with all beers and ciders listed on a blackboard. The craft beer selection was much larger than the cask. My Fair Side was not the best. But I quite liked this place. There is a central bar and a pleasant wood and tiled drinking area. Scotch eggs appear to be a speciality. Decent place. blue_scrumpy - 27 May 2017 19:44 |
Made my way down Bethnal Green High road to make an inaugrial first visit to this new Craft Ale pub last night after seeing some rave reviews for it posted on the far superior pub review website pubsgalore, and I have to say the reviewers there are spot on.. Some excellent Keg and Draft ales to be had including a couple of brews from the Earl of Essex. yes agree, a good addition to the London pub scene jimshoppenus - 21 Mar 2014 16:00 |
Newly refurbished and reopened as sister pub to the Earl of Essex in Islington. 6 or 7 handpumped beers from obscure breweries plus about 12 craft/keg fonts. No pump clips, beer range displayed on the wall. Not aimed at your average Bethnal Green resident but a good addition to the pub scene. One major gripe - it's too dimly lit. Why do we have to sit in the virtual dark to drink? ed.spbw - 4 Feb 2014 14:09 |
I used to visit this pub to watch the footie, usually England games. It does or did rather nasty from the outside, inside it's basic, clean and very very friendly. Myself and my friends were made to feel very welcome when we visited, and many great nights have been had ever since. Particularly Germany 1 - England 5. During the match one of bar staff went out and got a whole bunch of food for the customers to tuck into. edna - 7 Jul 2008 13:48 |
