Perfect pub - found at the end of the Coventry Canal Art Trail. Former canal cottages knocked together. Inside - packed solid - difficult to move around and get to the bar and toilet. Plenty of staff on, so queue's not too bad. Low ceiling with plenty of pub paraphernalia. Outdoor seating available to admire the busy canal junction with plenty of architecture. Beerise, I saw Black Sheep and went for that. Served in a Bass Glass, so may have missed that. Excellent pint - in GBG 2019 - and the food was even better. Excellent experience. This was easily the best pub we tried in Coventry on Saturday. Travelling around Coventry can be a little dis-orientating as its so spread out. This pub is close to the M6 and near to a canal. I wasn't aware that it was within walking distance to the Ricoh Arena, until I read the last review. So it will certainly be an option if I ever go there again. The Greyhound has a bar area and a separate dining area. It is full of character with plenty of knick knacks to admire. The ale selection was also different. Bass is the regular ale. Guests were Box Steam Gym Dodger, Abbeydale Deception & Greene King Abbot. They also had a real cider from Hecks. Well worth visiting. blue_scrumpy - 30 Jan 2018 19:36 |
What a lovely little pub.A classic with compact ceilings, and classic deco with adverts and banners from years gone by. A nice choice of ales on offer too. Enjoyed the Bass on handpull,it had been a while since drinking that stuff, but they had some local ales on too which were enjoyable. 2 roaring fires to keep everyone warm, good friendly service too. A great pub and location next to a canal, ideal to wander down to The Ricoh Arena after a few ales. Will return here if we play Coventry again. markredfox73 - 24 Sep 2012 17:04 |
Visited this pub with Southampton fans for the Coventry away game. What a little Gem! excellent range of ale, friendly staff, log-file, Car parking and right on the canal. If only this pub was around the corner, where I live. excellent boozer. only rated it as a 9/10 as did not eat any food. COLSLAW - 8 Nov 2011 14:36 |
I visited here on a canal trip a few years back and when I've had the chance revisited it a few time since via road. One of my favourite pubs on the canal network, an absolute gem... Great beer, great food, great atmosphere and if your bed is close by on the cut then you just can't go wrong...!!!! Looking forward to my next visit MattTheMuncher - 18 May 2011 23:48 |
