if your not a regular or play football for the pub , forget it! bar staff what can be said , the girls will serve the "lads they want",lads behind the bar the opposite. The place seems to be attracting what can only be described as undesirables on a friday night, track suits and baseball caps.
On a positive note the bands are generally ok and the food is ok

i am the new landlord of the ainsty and find all the out of date comments very funy to read.we have just undergone a new referb and transformed the pub to now one of the most exciting and busiest pubs in york, fresh home cooked food local produce and best of british meats from our butcher make us one of the most talked about commuity pubs in york,i would urge anyone looking for great food and entertainment to give us a try.

Boring, dull pub. Full of the "football team" type, who wear training tops with their initials on just in case they forget their own name. Barmaids have faces like bulldogs chewing wasps.

John Smiths cask isn't too bad.
Ventalation is poor, gets very smoky. If you don't mind simple pub grub, it's good value. Pool area feels like it should have bouncers telling that your names not on the list.
Can be an interesting place to watch football, especially if you leave your brain at home and go and watch an En-Gur-Land game. All the stereotypes are there, especially if there happens to be a person in there supporting the opposition. Had a ' really nice St G cross ' for the world cup.
Don't let me put you off visiting, it's an ok pub.

Big pub that backs onto a dodgy council estate. Friday can get a bit lively.
